Europe's largest quantum technologies conference, the European Quantum Technologies Conference 2024, was held in Lisbon from November 18 to 20.
Laszlo Bacsardi, associate professor, and Kitti Olah, Ph.D student represented the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics at the event. They presented their research supported by the Quantum Information National Laboratory of Hungary.
The event was opened by Gustav Kalbe from the European Commission (acting director, DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology C Digital Excellence and Science Infrastructure) . A notable highlight of the event was a live demonstration of quantum key distribution (QKD) by the Italian company Telsy. This demonstration involved a secure videoconference over a quantum network spanning nearly 100 kilometers, utilizing devices from QTI SRL.
