Péter Burcsi is a Habilitated Associate Professor at the Computer Algebra Department of the Faculty of Informatics at the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). He earned his mathematics degree at ELTE in 2002, obtained a Master’s at the Université de Bordeaux in 2004, and completed his PhD at ELTE’s Informatics Doctoral School in 2009. His research focuses on combinatorics and combinatorial algorithms — especially “combinatorics on words” — as well as computational number theory and numeration systems. Since 2015 he holds habilitation status, and since 2013 he has also served as the acting head of his department. As a lecturer, he teaches courses in discrete mathematics, number theory, and algorithms, and is also involved in cybersecurity and cryptography research groups at ELTE.
